The Reasoning

Elephant Wise – The Reasoning

Album
Australia, Elephant Wise, Reggae

Lava Camp Royale are proud to release the “The Reasoning” from Elephant Wise, an international artist with an international following. Coming off the back of his well received singles ’21 Gun Salute’ and ‘Burning Slow’, the Kenyan born Reggae singer’s long awaited debut album ‘The Reasoning’ is finally here! ‘The Reasoning’ is a hard core, keeping true to its origins, in your face, modern roots/ dancehall reggae album, showcasing an authentic style and vibe. The Reasoning is now available on ITunes and Digital Retailers everywhere.

On ‘The Reasoning’ Elephant Wise works with producers such as Reality Chant Productions, High Stakes Records from New Zealand and NotEasy At All Productions from Europe. Collaborations with UK dancehall artist Deadly Hunta on ‘Highest Grade’ and Amsie Brown on ‘Oman’ underlines the international nature of The Reasoning with special recognition for the women who make life possible.

Meticulous production and tight horn sections complement the modern beats and smart lyrics. The seductively lazy style of Elephant Wise is immediately apparent on “Fire Blaze” while his versatility is demonstrated on “Belly A Di Beast” and “Cool Down”, two catchy, progressive tracks with a fast paced vibe. The album also contains exciting collaborations with local Australian talents LNX Dread and Elijah on“Cool Down”. “Run Dancehall” is a bouncy riddim driven song and “Sugar Nancy” is a dancehall- ready track with a roots message built in. Indeed, roots and consciousness is a major theme to which Elephant Wise manages to hold true while recording cutting edge productions for reggae and world music fans.

Raz Bin Sam – Own This Life

September 20, 2009 by Das_Media
Album
Raz Bin Sam, Reggae

If you were going to introduce me to a reggae artist who was originally from out of Israel and then had spent part of his time developing in Australia that is someone I’d be interested in hearing. There are some tunes on this album which simply NO ONE ELSE in reggae is making. Raz Bin Sam delivers on Own This Life a vibe that will TEAR THROUGH the casual reggae listener and will grow on the hardened reggae head at the same time. Think Alborosie + Agitated version of Junior Kelly = Raz Bin Sam

– Achis, AMG

Jamaican label ‘DasVibes’ has been heavily involved in some of the top rated reggae releases over the past few years including Cali P’s debut album, ‘Lyrical Faya’ in 2008, the ‘The Most High’ album from Jamaican veteran chanter Daddy Rings in 2007 and ‘King Of Kings’, the debut from singer Elijah Prophet in 2006. They have also released the first major riddim compilation of ‘Gloria riddim’, and now continuing that trend with Raz Bin Sam’s new album ‘Own This Life’.

Raz Bin Sam, originally from Israel is now residing in Australia. Raz Bin Sam has been an artist with Jamaican label DasVibes since 2007 and has since released two hit singles on their label, both of these are featured on the album ‘Own This Life’:
The first Something to remember, which hit the US Independent reggae charts, straight after it’s release in July 07 and remained at number 1 for 4 weeks. The second track ‘Life Is A Gift’ was released in 2008 and features Jamaican Reggae artist Ray Darwin.

DasVibes incidentally has re-released much of Raz Bin Sam’s existing catalogue, making it available to the masses today:
The album ‘Kivsayat’ which is in Hebrew and was first released in 1999.
‘Domesila’, a predominately English album which arrived in 2002 and provided Raz Bin Sam with the popular tune, Dalai Lama. 2005 was the release year of his well regarded album ‘Bin Tote Too’.

And ‘Raz Bin Sam & The Lion I Band’ self titled EP was released in 2007 featuring riddims of Raz Bin Sam’s own band, ‘Lion I’*.

.

The 14 track album Own This Life was recorded and produced by Mista Savona* (Australia), Jah Warrior* (England) and Sabbo & Kuti* (Israel). It consists of Middle Eastern, Hip Hop, Reggae and Dancehall tracks.

The first song on the album, (1) Crazy For Righteousness, is an ‘uplifting party song’ or one for the dance floor, given the exotic vibes on the bouncy Hip Hop Beat. (2) Pull Up takes a lyrical approach on a Middle Eastern Dancehall beat.
(3) What’s The Matter, a straight forward one-drop backing reggae tune.
(4) Mist In The Jungle, a dancehall tune on a Middle eastern riddim.

(5) Livin Like That a combination tune featuring top Jamaican chanter Jah Mason, voiced on a Middle Eastern dancehall riddim. (6) No Pegan is a modern roots track on a straight one-drop.

The title track: (7) Own This Life is a reggae tune in which Raz Bin Sam calls for people to stay strong and positive, saying that life is a miracle and a blessing so people should appreciate and make the most of it. “Morning prayer makes me feel the best” referring to Jewish rituals that he practices and are the tools he uses to keep himself on the right track. With a groovy riddim and these lyrics combined, a positive title track was created.

(8) No Place In Our Hearts is an up beat reggae tune on Jah Warrior.’s legendary ‘Creation riddim’.
(9) Clean N Pure For Sure is a dancehall, almost techno riddim with a rough vocal approach, supporting the merits of keeping oneself clean, both literally and spiritually. (10) Life Is A Gift, the hit combination single featuring Ray Darwin.
(11) Gevald is a very laid back tune on a one drop riddim. The same vibe carries over (12) Something To Remember.
(13) Sweet N Vicious is an uplifting straight forward Hip Hop tune.
And the closer is (14) Soul To Sound, an ode to the music itself.

The CD comes along with 4-page booklet.

Elijah Prophet Rising to The Top

Elijah Prophet, Jamaica, Reggae

March, 2006 – Jamaica, W.I.: Elijah Prophet was born and raised in Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies. At a young age, Elijah began singing under the mentoring of Garnet Silk and Uton Green. These years were spent in the cool hills of Parish of Manchester. At the time, Garnet Silk was unknown to the world of music and was dj’ing under the name “Bimbo”. Singer Uton Green took on the dual role of godfather and teacher and remains to this day a mentor to Elijah. The next step was in 1991, when Garnett Silk would take Elijah to Courtney Cole’s Roof Talent Show every year and Elijah would sing with the band. These live appearances helped Elijah earn a reputation as a singer with a powerful voice and a strong stage performance.

Elijah first visited a recording studio in 1996 with producer Jimmy Hinds. This session produced the singles “Mr. Badman” and “Mankind”. The same year, Elijah Prophet received the “Best New Artist” award in the Stone Love star search contest. This award caught the attention of other Jamaican producers, leading to a series of singles like: “I Can See Dem”, “Burn Down The Walls Of Babylon” and “War A Gwaan”.
These conscious and often unapologetic nature of Elijah’s lyric drew immediate attention – especially in the recordings like “Shatter”, where a parallel is drawn between in the street gunman and police . When asked about this, Elijah responded: “Look, it dosen’t matter who you are. Whether you got a license to kill or you don’t have a license to kill, every man with gun is a gunman.”
Radio stations in both Jamaica, and Toronto, Canada began to air the songs written and sung by Elijah Prophet. Both “I Can See Dem” and “Burn Down The Walls Of Babylon” charted. In Toronto each of the tunes topped the charts at number one and Elijah received a Tameka Award nomination for “Best New Reggae Singer”. Meanwhile, Germany’s Pow Pow sound system voiced dubplates by Elijah and soon realized that they too would record his music for release on their Pow Pow Record label. Tracks like “Put People First” caught the attention of German reggae lovers in 2002. More Pow Pow material by Elijah followed in the form of “Back For Good” and “Kings of Kings” and built a loyal following to Elijah which was spreading in Europe.

Dasvibes Production stepped in and took on the management role for Elijah Prophet in December of 2005. At this time Elijah has Six new singles “Children of the world (Gloria Riddim) , Run Around Girl (Blossom Riddim), Mother Nature (Lovebird Riddim) Semsimelia Fi Bun (First Sight Riddim) and His Rising Hit “Revolution (Living Man Riddim)” , an album in the works, and his Second European Tour.
